Security Officer

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity:

·        Knowledge of relevant equipment and procedures utilized to ensure safety and security in a mental health facility.

·        Knowledge of current techniques in working with and treating the mentally ill.

·        Knowledge of interviewing and information gathering techniques.

·        Effective verbal and written communication skills.

·        Excellent time management and organizational skills.

·        Ability to make observations to report and record them accurately.

·        Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. 

·        Ability to monitor and analyze information, events, or the environment to assess and resolve a  variety  of situations and circumstances.

·        Ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, other agencies, and the public. 

·        Ability operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete the essential functions including using word processing, e-mail, and computer programs relevant to their duties.

·        Meet the following minimum qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2- years security, law enforcement or military experience preferred.
• 1-year working as a psychiatric technician or similar work experience with security and mentally ill patient treatment functions preferred.
• Must have a current driver's license.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
