The Network Administrator troubleshoots and maintains the legislative computer network's central and shared hardware and software. Maintains computer network workstations, file servers, printers, and operating systems. Supports computer software applications and systems. Reviews, evaluates, and resolves computer user application problems. Maintains inventory and maintenance records for computer hardware and software. This is a non-partisan position.
· Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP configuration and management.
· Thorough understanding of the use, management, and administration of the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, OneNote, SharePoint, and Teams.
· Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures required to analyze and maintain information systems hardware and software.
· Thorough knowledge of current networking hardware, standards, topologies, architectures, and communication protocols, including switches, routers, firewalls, ethernet, TCP/IP, HTTP(S), 802.1x, Wi-Fi and cellular wireless communications technologies, and VOIP.
· Substantial knowledge in the use, maintenance, operation, design, and securing of PC operating systems, including Microsoft Windows desktop and server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux desktop and server.
· Substantial knowledge of diagnostic, analytical, and creative problem resolution skills to troubleshoot hardware, software, network problems.
· General knowledge of applicable data privacy practices, policies, and laws.
· General knowledge of administrative processes in government.
· General knowledge computer network technologies and concepts, including switching, routing, firewall, VLAN, VPN, and DNS, among others.
· General knowledge of system virtualization, with VMware virtual environments preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field plus three (3) years of relevant work experience
OR
Associate degree in Computer Science or related field plus five (5) years of relevant work experience.
OR
an equivalent amount of education and experience.
