We are recruiting for a Human Resources (HR) Generalist to join our team. The HR Generalist will work as part of a small team within the Department of Environmental Quality to support operations within the agency. The HR Generalist performs HR related duties at the professional level and carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: employee relations, classification, compensation, recruitment and selection, discipline handling, policy development and administration, labor relations, affirmative action, and employment equity programs. The generalist provides advice and high-level outcome focused customer service to all internal and external stakeholders.

The Human Resources Generalist position includes a career ladder for professional development and pay progression.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, or related field.
Two years of dedicated human resources experience.
Preferred experience as an authorized job description classifier with State of Montana Department of Administration.
Preferred related human resources certification, such as Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP).
