The Montana Department of Commerce works with statewide and local partners, private industry, and small businesses to enhance and sustain economic prosperity in Montana. The Montana Heritage Commission preserves and manages historic resources in Virginia City, Nevada City and Reeder’s Alley and promotes the appreciation of history through quality visitor experiences.
2025 Season
Training week – May 22nd – 23rd
Season – May 24th – Sept. 1st
Visitor Service Associate Tasks
These 8 positions will be working at the Virginia City Depot, Nevada City Museum, and on the Alder Gulch Shortline Railroad.
- Sell tickets/passes for NC Museum, Railroad
- Use a cash register, counting money and use a credit card machine to collect sales
- Maintain head counts for venues
- Greet visitors and give out information on history regarding the area and attractions
- Stock merchandise
- Other duties as assigned
Eight Short Term Workers will have rotating schedules at the different locations- Virginia City Depot, Nevada City Museum, and Alder Gulch Shortline Railroad. Employees must be flexible in order to work varied shifts as well as a variety of concessions.
Shared housing provided for employees who stay the whole season (Memorial Day weekend – Labor Day).
Education and Experience:
The above knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of job-related experience. Other combinations of equivalent education and experience may be considered.
