Abundant outdoor oppo1tunities and a rich cultural heritage converge at the restored confluence of the Clark Fork and Blackfoot Rivers at the heart of the Milltown State Park. The site of a federal Superfund dam removal and river restoration project, Milltown State Park features nearly 635 acres of terrain and several miles of river frontage. It is a small but diverse landscape, ranging from restored river bottoms and mature cottonwood stands to a pine forested bluff above the confluence and dramatic rock cliffs over the Blackfoot River. This position is based out of the FWP Region 2 office in Missoula, Montana.
Incumbent must be able to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions and irregular hours. This work may be accomplished without immediate supervision. The incumbent must be in good overall physical condition to withstand the rigors and demands of outdoor work. The incumbent must be willing to work in various locations, conditions and hours. Weekend, holiday and evening work is common and expected. Incumbent may travel out of the region on occasion.
Job Duties:
The Recreation Technician is a frontline position that provides general operational support of a variety of recreational offerings at Milltown State Park, and along the river corridor.
Duties include monitoring recreation sites by foot or vehicle, maintaining extensive public contact, assisting
with interpretive and educational programs, collecting fees, and carrying out light-duty maintenance duties.
Graduation from high school or equivalent education. One year of college or vocational training experience in park and recreation management, interpretive visitor center, or closely related setting is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required at time of application: General knowledge of basic customer service and safe work habits
