The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the HFD / MMHNCC.
Job Overview: This position serves as part of the senior management team with responsibility for compliance with healthcare standards, and quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) activities throughout Montana Mental Health Nursing Care Center (MMHNCC). The Quality Improvement Manager will assume responsibility for the functional areas within Quality Resources and oversee the Quality Department. The functional areas include serving day-to-day as a resource to leadership and staff for areas such as disease specific care, quality measures, national collaboratives, special projects and regulatory issues, and process improvement for MMHNCC along with education.

Physical and Environmental Demands: This position is exposed to unconventional behaviors by residents with mental illness. The ability to engage and work with often volatile individuals and make critical decisions is required. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens. Walking, standing, and sitting for variable periods of time is required. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

· Quality and process improvement principles and tools
· Change management theories and principles
· Health care trends
· Health care information management
· Resources required federal, state, and local laws applicable to health care environment
· Basic statistics, data collection, analytical tools, accurate report writing
· Use of computer software such as Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
· Utilize interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees, leadership, physicians, board, and external audiences
· Possess the ability to turn data into information to support process improvement and change.
· Assists in facilitating compliance with regulatory, legal, and accreditation requirements
· Federal long-term certification requirements
Supervision
The number of employees directly supervised is: Three direct reports with 15 (Kitchen Staff) other employees with oversite.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
· Bachelor’s of Science in Healthcare related field, including nursing
· Two years of job related experience, preferred
· Demonstrated success in federal certification processes
· Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
