Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
- Experience performing grounds maintenance, landscaping, construction, agricultural, or general maintenance work is desirable.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and terrain.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- General knowledge of operating and maintaining small equipment, including lawn mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, backpack sprayers, and hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of basic groundskeeping and vegetation management practices.
- Ability to safely apply herbicides and follow pesticide label requirements and safety protocols.
- Ability to perform manual labor and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with coworkers and interact professionally with the public.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are desirable.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve exposure to heat, cold, wind, rain, dust, insects, uneven terrain, and other environmental conditions.
- Position requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and operating equipment.
- Occasional weekend, holiday, or extended-hour work may be required depending on operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with fence construction and repair.
- Experience operating tractors, utility vehicles, trailers, or grounds maintenance equipment.
- Experience with herbicide application or noxious weed management.
- Experience maintaining parks, recreation sites, agricultural lands, or public facilities.
This position plays a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and enjoyable recreational facilities while supporting wildlife habitat management and public access throughout the state.
