Job Overview:

The incumbent develops and manages CTE programs funded with both state and federal dollars. They are responsible for meeting the objectives mandated by federal and state laws.  They provide educational services to the citizens of the state through the educational community and schools.  These services include designing and managing program guidelines and standards to ensure effective curriculum, teaching and learning methodologies, educational assessments, teacher certification and school accreditation, technical assistance, and overall quality education statewide.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Behaviors):

·         Knowledge of the theory, principals, and practices of educational and program administration; principals of planning and organization; teaching methodology and learning theory; philosophy, policy, rules, and regulations governing Health and Public Safety Education. 

·         Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. 

·         Skilled in teaching success and in Health and Public Safety Education.  Experience in advising a Career and Technical Student Organization.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to plan and direct educational and service program; to collaborate with others; to understand and apply federal and state laws and regulations.

·         Knowledge with the integration of career and technical student organization programs into career and technical curriculum. 

·         Skilled in leadership concepts and able to train others in their use. 

·         Ability in dealing with people to motivate, involve and enhance cooperation, diplomatic and skillful in conflict resolution.

·         Knowledge, skills and abilities:  educational theory, research and assessment, group processes, data analysis, teaching methodologies, safety and health, school facilities and design, evaluation of programs and resource materials, tests and measurements, accreditation and certification, instructional technology (computers), equipment (instructional), research in current education practices, ability to access and retrieve national clearinghouses and data bases, state and federal laws, regulations, standards and policies. 

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

·         A bachelor’s degree in education, Health and Public Safety Education, Career and Technical Education, or another related field. 

·         Three years of Health and Public Safety Education Teaching or related experiences.

·         Three years of experience working with or managing career and technical student organizations.

·         Proficient use and understanding of Excel, Adobe, Google Suite, and Web Design.

·         Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

·         If no applicants meet these minimum qualifications, a training assignment may be offered.
