A seasonal Groundskeeper position offers you a great entry level introduction into the State of Montana workforce to start your career. We are looking for an observant individual that can work both independently and as a positive-minded team member on collaborative projects. You will be responsible for prioritizing the cleanliness and safety of Fishing Access Sites, State Parks, and Wildlife Management Areas in the Great Falls and White Sulphur Springs areas. This position is dynamic, and responsibilities will change throughout the season allowing you to acquire knowledge in the safe operation of both hand and power tools, landscaping equipment, noxious weed identification, and basic carpentry.
Flexibility exists to adapt work schedules to individual needs. Typically, this position works a 40-hour week Monday-Friday from mid-May through mid-September; however, accommodations can be made to modify schedules. Job Duties:
The Great Falls/White Sulphur Springs groundskeeper will be responsible for light maintenance duties associated with: Newlan Creek Reservoir Fishing Access Site, Martinsdale Reservoir Fishing Access Site, Fort Logan Fishing Access Site, Smith River State Park, Sluice Boxes State Park, Smith River Wildlife Management Area and Giant Springs State Park. These weekly duties include:
- Litter/Garbage Collection
- Mowing and Trimming
- Vault Latrine Cleaning (Pressure washing, sanitation, and restocking)
- Campsite Preparation
This position will also work in conjunction with other Region 4 Maintenance staff to assist with noxious weed control, road/parking area maintenance, and carpentry projects. It Is Important to recognize that the duties and responsibilities of this position are focused outside and require the groundskeeper in work in inclement weather conditions that may include extreme heat, wind, and sun. Additionally, the groundskeeper is required to collect litter along trail networks which will require hiking several miles into remote areas.
First Aid and CPR certification will be provided.
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
Incumbent should have the knowledge and skills to work with various types of hand tools and equipment.
Must have the interest and ability to work with the general public.
