What is this career opportunity?

This position is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Montana Lottery Director.

Responsibilities include policy development, control, supervision, and is directly accountable for the security, honesty, fairness, and integrity of the operation and the administration of the Montana Lottery.  Duties also include planning, developing, and administering a comprehensive security program for the facility, personnel, computer system, and games of the Montana Lottery. This position ensures that the Montana Lottery complies with industry standards and rules for multi-state lottery games. The incumbent coordinates criminal investigations with state and local enforcement agencies regarding Montana Code Annotated violations impacting lottery operations. 
 

What are we looking for?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, business administration, or related field.
  • Five years of experience in law enforcement or criminal investigation;
  • Two years of administrative planning and/or development experience, and management experience; and
  • Knowledge or experience in IT/cyber security.

Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Knowledge of or ability to learn:

  • The concepts and theories of criminal justice, crime prevention and investigation;
  • IT/cyber security requirements of gaming systems;
  • Automated and manual record-keeping practices for gaming systems; and
  • Budgeting practices and procedures.
     

    Ability to:

     

     

  • Communicate Lottery security requirements to diverse levels of management and stakeholders;
  • Exercise judgment and discretion to establish and maintain strong working relationships using strong collaboration;
  • Be on call to address emergencies 24/7;
  • Mentor and manage staff;
  • Think analytically and problem solve;
  • Apply strategic and tactical business visions;
  • Demonstrate strong customer service principles; and
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) – Employment with the State of Montana may qualify you to receive student loan forgiveness under the PSLF.  

This position requires the successful completion of a background investigation and credit check.  This investigation may continue into the time period after you have begun your employment. If the results of the investigation are, in the opinion of the Montana Lottery, not favorable, employment will not continue.
