POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Workforce Consultant, you’ll make a direct and meaningful impact by helping individuals unlock their career potential and connect with opportunity. In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with job seekers to create personalized employment plans, deliver one-on-one coaching, and guide skill development that leads to real results. You’ll also build strong relationships with local employers, lead engaging workshops, and share valuable labor market insights, acting as the vital link between a motivated workforce and the businesses that need their talents. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Empower clients to take charge of their career journey by developing and implementing personalized job search plans that identify the services, training, and support needed for lasting employment success.
  • Discover potential and uncover barriers through interest and skill assessments that inform strategic, meaningful employment pathways tailored to each individual.
  • Provide dedicated, ongoing guidance with career counseling that connects customers to programs, resources, and supports moving them closer to their goals.
  • Champion access and opportunity by helping customers navigate workforce programs, community resources, and partner services with clarity and confidence.
  • Drive progress through collaboration, coordinating and tracking customer activities, services, and outcomes to ensure steady advancement toward employment milestones.
  • Inspire career readiness by coaching customers to strengthen job search techniques, refine resumes and applications, master interviews, and overcome obstacles to success.
  • Build lasting bridges between people and opportunity by partnering with employers and sharing up-to-date labor market insights that help shape a responsive, future-ready workforce.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Candidates must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Job search planning: Ability to develop individualized employment plans by identifying barriers, setting realistic goals, and outlining actionable steps toward employment.
  • Client communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including active listening, rapport-building, and the ability to convey information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Client assessment: Skill in conducting interviews and assessments to evaluate client strengths, needs, and barriers, and apply that information to service strategies.
  • Career coaching: Ability to guide and motivate clients through goal setting, skill development, and problem-solving related to employment.
  • Resource navigation: Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn workforce, education, and community resources, and effectively connect clients to appropriate services.
  • Job readiness training: Ability to teach and support job-seeking skills such as resume writing, applications, interviewing, and networking.
  • Advocacy: Ability to represent client skills and workforce services effectively to employers and partner organizations.
  • Workshop facilitation: Skill in developing and delivering presentations or workshops using clear structure and engaging delivery methods.
  • Employer engagement: Ability to build and maintain relationships with employers, understand hiring needs, and connect candidates to opportunities.
  • Public speaking: Confidence and ability to present information to groups in a professional, organized, and engaging manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education and Experience)

  • Employment services or related experience: Experience providing direct support to individuals in achieving employment, education, or training goals. This may include workforce services, case management, education, human services, or similar roles involving goal planning, skill development, or service coordination.
  • Understanding of barriers to success: Experience working with individuals facing barriers related to employment, education, housing, or economic stability, and the ability to identify and respond to those challenges.
  • Partnership and relationship building: Experience collaborating with employers, community organizations, educational institutions, or public agencies to connect individuals with opportunities or resources.
  • Communication and documentation: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and prepare clear, professional documentation such as reports, case notes, or presentations.
  • Data awareness and problem-solving: Experience using information, feedback, or data to identify needs, adjust approaches, or support improvements in services or outcomes.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, workforce development, or a closely related field may supplement relevant professional experience but is not a substitute for demonstrated skills and competencies in the areas noted above.  Equivalent combinations of education and directly related experience will be considered.

This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective on July 1, 2026.
