The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is recruiting for a Transportation Planner. This position is the Law Enforcement Liaison / Transportation Planner that supports state and local law enforcement agencies in high crash areas that mitigate impaired driving and speeding and that increase occupant protection enforcement efforts. Responsible for providing technical and administrative guidance to law enforcement grantees throughout Montana to enhance state highway traffic safety. This position reports to the State Highway Traffic Safety Section supervisor and does not directly supervise others. This position is part of a career ladder with career advancement opportunities.

Required Education and Experience:
Planner II - $31.24/hr
Associate’s Degree in Planning, Business or a related field.
Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 2 years of related experience.
Planner III - $33.86/hr
Associate’s Degree in Planning, Business or a related field, and one (1) year of related work experience.
Alternative combinations of related experience and education may be considered. Such as 3 years of related experience.
This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.
