Required Education and Experience:

Planner IV - level 2.1

The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geology, Geography, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Economics, Education, Public Administration, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Social or Physical Science, Engineering, Land Use Planning, or Resource Managementor a related field.

This position requires a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.

planner V - Level 3.0

The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Geology, Geography, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Business, Economics, Education, Public Administration, Mathematics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Social or Physical Science, Engineering, Land Use Planning, or Resource Managementor a related field.

This position requires a minimum of 4 years of related work experience.

Alternative qualifications include: Any combination of additional related work experience and education equivalent to the minimum qualifications.

This agency may use a training assignment. Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  •        Experience in Federal pass-through funded rolling-stock, facility, and equipment program administration and oversight.
  •        Contracting, procurement and asset management.
  •        Interpretation of rolling-stock specifications and facility designs.
  •        Professional relationship building with internal and external customers.
  •        Excellent documentation and tracking skills.
  •         Database Management
  •       Concepts and theories of program planning and management
  •       Experience with grants, fund development and contract administration.

This position belongs to the MFPE bargaining unit. The successful candidate will receive more information about the union and the option to join the union during the onboarding process. MDT MFPE bargaining unit members will have preference.

 

This position is covered under a Career Ladder Advancement Policy. Education and experience will determine salary.

 

Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records.
