The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division, Prevention Bureau.

 

This position is located in the Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities Division. This position oversees the planning, implementation, and contract management of prevention and recovery activities, under the State Opioid Response (SOR) Grant and behavioral health interventions within criminal justice settings. The SOR Grant seeks to increase access to medication for opioid use disorder, reduce unmet treatment needs, and reduce opioid overdose related deaths. This position is responsible for leading the development of evidence-based prevention interventions and recovery support services for both opioid and stimulant use disorders including naloxone training, distribution, and expansion programs; health intervention awareness campaigns; and the development of a statewide Recovery Residence infrastructure. This position is responsible for leading the planning and implementation of detention center-based behavioral health services through the HEART Initiative to support the needs of justice-involved individuals with behavioral health disorders with an emphasis on opioid and stimulant use disorders. This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of the DPHHS Director’s Angel Initiative to increase access to treatment by creating entry points through law enforcement offices statewide and partnerships with local treatment providers for individuals voluntarily seeking treatment. This position will coordinate strategic initiatives with service providers, communities, local and state law enforcement, Director’s Office staff, stakeholders, and technical assistance providers in order to implement programs to fidelity, evaluate the impact of programs, and support program sustainability.

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

 

  • Knowledge of evidence-based programming for substance use disorders.
  • Knowledge of program development and quality improvement practices.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws related to grants and contracts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Meet minimum qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree in health science, health education, behavioral or social science, public administration, or a related field.
    • Two years of job-related experience in health programming or health education, including administration of a federal grant program.
    • Other combinations of related education and experience will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
