Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):
- A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering that meets Accreditation Board of Engineering & Technology (ABET) standards, or another relevant field of engineering such as Environmental or Geological from an ABET accredited program.
- Licensure as a Professional Engineer as required by 37-67-301, MCA and the Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. (Licensure in Montana as a Professional Engineer is required within 6-months of hire.)
- A minimum of 2-years of applicable post-professional engineer licensure experience.
- Expertise in a specialty area of civil engineering applicable to dams (e.g., geotechnical, hydrology, hydraulic, structural). This may be either specialized education (e.g., a master’s degree, graduate coursework, or an undergraduate focus in a relevant specialty area of civil engineering), or specialized experience.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering; specialized training in water project designs, construction methods and materials; and at least two years of experience directly related to water resources design and construction, or water project operation and maintenance.
- Thorough knowledge of civil engineering fundamentals with specialization in construction, structural design, hydraulics, hydrology, and soil mechanics as related to water resource projects is required.
- Considerable knowledge of surveying, contracts and agreements, design and construction practices, economics, computers, engineering software, and technical writing is desirable.
Special Information: Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States. A valid driver's license is required with less than 12 conviction points in the most recent completed 36 months.
Eligibility to Work: In accordance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act, the person selected must produce within three days of hire documents that show authorization to work in the United States. Examples of such documentation include a birth certificate or Social Security card along with a driver’s license or other picture I.D., or a U.S. passport, or a "green card".
