Required Education and Experience:
Jr Traffic Engineer:
The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
This position requires a minimum of one year experience in a related field.
Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: Position requires a EIT certification.
Sr Traffic Engineer:
The required knowledge and skills are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
The position requires four years progressively responsible experience with an emphasis on project design and traffic operational analysis.
Certifications, licensure, or other credentials include: PE required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Engineering drafting; CADD; physics; engineering mechanics
· Engineering mathematics including trigonometry, geometry, and calculus
· Knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
· Knowledge of state and federal traffic engineering regulations
· Knowledge of the geographic area including terrain and site characteristics
· Accident analysis techniques
· Written and verbal communications including presentation methods and technical writing

Driver’s record will be verified. Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records.
