The Montana State Prison Dental Department is seeking a dedicated Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team in providing high-quality preventive and comprehensive dental services to incarcerated male offenders.
Under the direction of the Montana State Prison Dental Clinic Manager, employed or contracted Dentists, and with oversight from the Department of Corrections Medical Services Manager, the Dental Assistant supports a wide range of procedures—from routine cleanings to prosthetic dentistry.
Assist the Dentist, Denturist, or Hygienist in delivering comprehensive and preventive oral health care to inmates.
Perform paraprofessional and technical duties, including chairside assisting and preparation/sterilization of instruments.
Coordinate daily operations of the Dental Department to ensure efficient workflow.
Compile and maintain critical data and records relevant to dental services.
Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including appointment scheduling, inventory tracking, and documentation.
Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety regulations, and department policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
High school Diploma/GED Equivalency
Dental Assistant Certification - Preferred Not Required
Dental Laboratory Training/Certification – Preferred Not Required
Three years’ experience as a dental assistant. – Preferred Not Required
Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
